Middle Landscape Painting by Sarah McKenzie

March 23, 2009

Here’s a link to an interview on ArchDaily with Sarah McKenzie on her recent work. The realism of her framed panoramas and the invisibility of the human subject seems to evoke a cathartic need to deal with the alienating nature of new suburban development. How can we, the generation of suburbanites, come to terms with the strangeness of such landscapes. Must judgment be passed so that we continue to build in order to oppose what came before, or can our catharsis inject new meaning into alien forms?
